Staying Up Late Causes Depression |
Dr. Hashem Bahry, professor and counselor in psychiatry at Al-Azhar University, said that sleep in nature has stages known as the "sleep cycle", which is a cycle that takes place both hours, and a multi-step session, starting with sleep, dreams, deep sleep, indicating that people who suffer from anxiety do not reach the deep sleep stage and wake up after the first stage of sleep. sleep because his dreams are disturbing because it is based on anxiety, so the individual wakes up as if he is not sleeping.
He added that the sleep stage is the stage of benefiting from all the experiences that the individual experiences throughout the day. The more a person sleeps enough, the better the degree of absorption of the events and to benefit from them, while if he does not sleep enough, he will have increased levels of tension, explaining that Sleep disturbances lead an individual to feel depression and anxiety and deteriorate cognitive abilities, and thus the individual becomes more vulnerable to behavioral disorders.
It is reported that an American study has indicated that staying up late and fewer hours of sleep makes adolescents and young adults more vulnerable to depression, mood swings, and various mental disorders.
